Where is Garamond?

Okay internet, you win.

For the past six months or so I've been rehashing the same conversation over and over again with everyone from friends to strangers to people on the bus. It goes something like this.

Friend, stranger, mass transit user X: So you're done with college, what are you going to do now?

Me: Well, I'm headed to graduate school for the next two years.

X: That's great. What will you be studying?

Me: Creative writing.

(prolonged pause and blank stare)

X: That should be interesting. Are you planning on writing a novel?

Me: More likely a book of poetry, actually.

(longer pause, as if waiting to see if I'm making a joke)

X: Good for you. So, what are you doing now? Do you have a blog or something?

And that brings us here. To my blog. Because up to this point I have not had a good answer for the above question. There are a few possible answers, but I'm not sure if any of them are good. And as much as I would love to tell people that I've been writing all summer, which for me entails reading novels and listening to funk music while waiting for an idea to strike me, it would be much more accurate to say that I've been planning on writing all summer while hopping around the east coast. So my 21st century "writer's" answer to the aforementioned question becomes: I've been blogging.

And here we have proof that actual writing is taking place (hence the title). Don't be misled, I have no intentions of providing any readers with any actual proof of anything. I'm not really sure of how these blog doo-dads operate either, so bear with me.

I didn't really have a purpose for this particular blog entry, beyond introducing myself to this whole blogging format. So while I step out of the neolithic era, I'll just sing a simple song and say: Laddie's leg hair is growing back.
